Window Horses is a film that plays around with and subverts stereotypes. Die Hunde is Dietmar’s visual poem, which the animator Michael Mann chose to use the language of early German expressionist cinema. Composer Taymaz Saba created a soundscape that references another Teutonic cultural touchstone: Stockhausen.
Don McKellar, who is not German but had just spent two weeks in China with a German director and was channeling his way of speaking… remembered a nursery rhyme his mother used to sing, with German words, that were incorporated in to the Cow Poem.
Dietmar's a young poet from Germany who maybe hasn't been around the block as many times as he projects. Dietmar will be played by Don McKellar.
