Window Horses - Behind the Curtains

The Vancouver-based Iranian filmmaker, Bahram Javaheri created this amazingly intricate piece for the poet Hafiz’s story, using paper cutout techniques and referencing traditional Persian design. The pieces were assembled and animated in After Effects by Michael Mann.

Hafiz is one of Iran’s most famous poets and is used as an oracle in Persian culture, because his verses can be interpreted so many different ways. He has been translated into every type of language. These translators are poets, too, bringing these ancient words to life in every generation making them meaningful to contemporary society.
