Whenever we could, all the actors in a scene were in the recording booth together. Here we have Nancy Kwan, Eddy Ko and Sandra Oh.
Turns out that the iconic, biracial Nancy Kwan, who broke the Hollywood Asian race barrier to play the lead in “The World of Suzy Wong”, was taken care of by the director’s grandmother when she was a baby during the Second World War in Hong Kong. Art imitates life!
Stephen is Rosie's grandfather. He came to Canada from Hong Kong in 1967 when our doors were open and welcoming immigrants, to find a better life for his family. Stephen will be played by Eddy Ko.
Gloria, Rosie's overprotective grandmother, raised her since she was little. Originally from Hong Kong, she passed on her Francophilia to her beloved granddaughter. Gloria will be played by the iconic Nancy Kwan.
